Going on holiday with friends is great fun and you can end up creating memories that will last a lifetime. Yet if you are heading away as a group, particularly for the first time, there are a few things you can do to ensure the trip goes as smoothly as possible. There is a saying that says a holiday can be the make or break for a relationship and the same goes with a friendship. Spending so much time in close proximity and having to all consider what you each want to do can sometimes take its toll. If you are looking to travel with friends, here are some top tips that should help make your trip as smooth as possible.

Establish what you want from the trip before you go

When traveling with friends, you must establish upfront what you want from the trip before going. If some of you are looking for a hiking holiday or something with a lot of activities, but others just want to go to a beach and to relax, be upfront about it. It could be that the trip just won’t work, or perhaps you could come up with a compromise that means you are all happy. Perhaps you’ll stay somewhere near hiking routes but also not too far from a beach for those that want to spend their days on a sun lounger.

Draw up an itinerary that incorporates something for everyone

It’s a good idea to draw up an itinerary before heading abroad so you can ensure you have time to do all the activities you want to do. Whether it’s snorkeling, going into a main city or booking in certain excursions, you don’t want to miss out on anything. Itineraries also mean you can plan ahead and get cheaper prices for things, as well as organize your time to do certain things that might be close together on the day. It will enable you to budget better and be more efficient with your time – it’s a winning decision all around! Be sure to allow in time for delays, particularly if you have to use public transport, and also give yourself plenty of time to relax too!

Share certain packing bits between you

When travelling as a group, it can be a good idea to share the packing between you. You won’t need four bottles of shampoo between four of you for example! Draw up a list to make sure you don’t miss anything and keep your destination in mind. If you’re heading to a beach destination don’t forget a beach towel and bikini, or if you are looking to explore nature, a pair of hiking sunglasses is a must!

These are just a few top tips that should help you to have a much better break when travelling with friends. As long as you are upfront and prepared, you are sure to have a fantastic time. What are some top tips you have for traveling with friends? Let us know in the comments below!
